How would you feel if you had to wear clothes made from your local newspaper? It is no longer used to wipe your bum you know? Just kidding. The just ended Kampala Fashion Week had Definition Africa (a retail outlet by women entreprenuers) in collaboration with a young Ugandan fashion designer by the name of Cirra Sue showcase a lovely collection inspired by Ugandan newspaper headlines.
Catch the collection below and tells what you think.
One of my favourite fashion gurus; Kimora Lee Simmons once said “Always dress like you are going to see your worst enemy today.” I guess Nhlanhla Nciza is living by that quote each day.
Today we are crushing on the fabulous and eclectic style of Nhlanhla Nciza.
She is the creative director of her very own label ‘NN vintage’ and also the one half of South African hit duo; Mafikizolo. If you dont know who she is or what her name was…well you are not the only one, up until this year I used to call her the “lady from Mafikizolo.”
Today we are not focusing on her music but rather her eye catching fashion sense
Hate it or love it, when comes to borrowng trends from the opposite sex the ladies tend to have an upper hand whether it’s a blazer, boyfriend jeans or even boxers. Nine (9) times out of ten the average guy has zero luck in slaying in womens wear. It takes guts for a guy to rock a female trend especially due to the fact that it’s quite awkward also dare I say socially unacceptable.
In last month’s issue of Glamour magazine, the director of menswear for UK fashion retail shop; Selfridges (Bosse Myhr) had a pretty interesting statement he said “a move away from gender definition is driving the freedom to choose based on personal taste”
Hmmm.. interesting. Here are a few photos of brave souls wearing what I would describe as women’s inspired menswear
Marc Jacobs is definitely not the shy type. But I love the mesh attire. Mr Jacobs can I please borrow it.
Septum rings, septum rings where do I start. Recently nollywood actress Eniola Badmus was brutally attacked by cyber bullies for wearing a septum ring and… just maybe her outfit choice at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Septum rings have become trendy statement pieces. Unlike previously where punk music lovers and goth look girlies where the only ones seen with septum piercings. If you are thinking about getting a septum piercing then here are 3 fun facts for you: Continue reading Would You Wear A Septum Ring? Here Are Three Fun Facts For You.
Ever heard a fashion related term and wondered what the heck does that mean? Well you are not the only one. For my all clueless cool kid wannabees fashion term of the week is here for you.

Will animal prints ever fade? I doubt it, animal prints are pieces that make bold statements without looking like you tried too hard. Not to say you would not look like a crazy person if styled ridiculously. There are soo many ways to wear animal print, lets take a look at some of them:
The “borrowing from the boys” trend has taken a totally different turn. It has
gone past the usual suit or even
“boyfriend jeans.” Blazer dresses seem to be the new cool. Here are a few looks from celebs who have effortlessly slayed in blazer dresses.
Rihanna seems to be a regular in blazer dresses. From bright prints to all black, the pop singer makes blazer dresses look soo good

Braids are not fading out any time soon. Thanks to Janet Jackson and Brandy or should I say Moesha every teenage girl of African descent fell in love with braids back in the 90’s.
Today girls are still slaying the braids trend but with a much more edgier twist. Coloured braids have become a popular trend. Whether its gold, pink, blue green or whatever color under the sun you can think of our, African chicks are “killing it.”
MTV Base Vj Stephanie Coker showed us that rocking green and black braids can be very fabulous.
Denim has been around for decades. But the trick question is, how do we pull off a denim on denim look effortlessly without looking like you borrowed Cyndi Lauper’s clothes from the 80’s. As usual I have put together what I would like to believe are some cool denim on denim Celebrity looks to inspire us all the next time we decide to wear denim
I must admit I hardly watch movies not to talk of webisodes just because of the buzz or its popularity, well maybe with the exception of Game of Thrones. Oh lawd the sight of that fine vanilla Kit Harington alone. Anyway let me keep my dirty thoughts to myself.
Gidi up’s storyline is very relatable, especially to the younger generation. For instance, Hands up if you are trying to pursue a career your parents do not approve of or you are trying so hard not to be a freeloader or depend on your family or you find yourself in the “its complicated/I don’t know where this is going” type of romantic relationship
Regardless of the fact that Gidi Up is made in Nigeria, it is definitely not your average Nigerian type of production and that’s what I love about it. The cast consist of what you may describe as upcoming actors/actresses besides AMVCA winner, O.C Ukeje
So get that data bundle (I know how that can be expensive these days) and check out Gidi up on the Ndani Tv youtube channel or if you are a DSTV subscriber then you can check it out weekly on African Magic. Trust me, you would love it.
Although she may be my least favorite actress due to the fact that nine years and still counting I am still Team Aniston and some way some how I wish Jen and Brad could just kiss and make up (Yes I am still hung up on the past, I know) Regardless of that awkward leg pose, the Versace number Angelina Jolie wore at the 2012 Oscars is one dress that may have revolutionized the slit trend
Whether it is a one slit or two or showing as high as the pelvic bone, some celebrities make it look effortless. Today lets take a look at some celebrities rocking this trend
I do not know if I should call her a celebrity but Kendall Jenner from the Kardashian clan gave us some serious pelvic bone cleavage action. I must admit I have mixed feelings about this dress. Confession time 🙂 I am still trying to zoom in to see if I could get sneak peak of errrr what should i call it? Her garden of Eden?…maybe
Next is my favorite Destiny’s Child member ( oh yes, I do not care what you beehives think) Kelly Rowland, looking fabulous in an all black number, although I think Mrs Witherspoon was showing a little too much skin. But heey can you blame her? If u have it, flaunt it
Other celebrities such as Lala Anthony, Michelle Williams, Alessandra Ambrosio and Ghana’s very own Sister Deborah have all joined in on the action
